Board Certified Sports Specialist
Sports Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab are umbrella terms that are used by a number of individuals and companies. The reason we call ourselves Sports Rehabilitation Specialists at Wall 2 Wall Sports & Rehab is due to the level of training and expertise our clinicians hold in this field.

Our Doctor of Physical Therapy trained clinicians are the highest level of sports rehab experts in our current healthcare system. They have earned their Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy but are also Board Certified Sports Specialist. This is a credential that is held by The ABPTS
(American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists). To put this in perspective, there are approximately 3,500 Physical Therapist in the State of Arizona. Out of those 3,500 clinicians approximately ~50 hold their Board Certified Sports Specialization.

Sports Physical Therapy is defined as a specific type of physical therapy that allow individuals to return to their highest level of activity, whether that be traditional activities of daily living, competitive sports or Olympic level athletics. We are trained in a manner to listen to your goals and set up a plan to allow you to obtain those goals.

As stated by the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapythere are six pillars of sports PT:

  1. Acute Management of Athletic Injury
  2. Sports Rehabilitation
  3. Sports Performance
  4. Return To Play Following Athletic Injury
  5. Sports Science
  6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Sports physical therapists are trained to help you bounce back from your injury, with just as much strength (if not more!) than you had before the injury.

Sports physical therapists are qualified to assist you in recovering from your injury with at least as much strength as you had prior to the accident.

  1. Sports Science is the Core of Our Foundation
  2. Acute Management of Athletic Injury
  3. Sports Rehabilitation and Sports Performance
  4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  5. Return To Play Following Athletic Injury

How will I benefit from working with a sports physical therapist?

  • Overcoming injuries. Sports physical therapy specialists are the best individuals to assist you in overcoming an injury and find relief for your pain. Each treatment is designed specifically to the needs of each individual and the condition of their injury, consisting of exercises and strength-building activities that are unique to their recovery.
  • Prevention of new injuries
  • Refocusing strengths: The human body is a series of systems that should work in unison, injury is often caused when these systems are unbalanced. Sports PT’s are expertise in reassessing and reestablishing these movements systems to not only recover from injury but reestablished sequential movement patterns moving forward.
  • Developing healthy habits. While a sports physical therapist can help you reach physical goals, they can also help you work on general wellness goals, as well. A sports physical therapist is a great resource to have when focusing on increasing strength and muscular functionality.

If you are a recreational athlete, youth, or professional athlete we can help you. You can trust in our training, experience and personal commitment to each patient’s goals, our comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan of care.  We are trained to take you from your lowest low, back to the highest level of athletic competition.

We hope you will allow us to be a part of your journey back to competition.
